Paper Cut Art and Silhouettes

Growing up on a Vermont farm, cutting paper was one of my favorite pastimes. Then as a young adult living in Poland on the International Exchange Program I learned about the "art" of papercutting. Upon returning to rural Northeastern Vermont, I developed my skills and merged Polish techniques with my rurual Vermont heritage to create my "Vermont" designs and cutting style. My primary cutting tool was a well-worn pair of sheep shears (13.5 inch) until recently, after thirty years of use, I wore them out. I now use a combination of sheep shears and Swiss papercutting scissors to create my designs.

I am a graduate of the University of Vemront, school teacher for over thirty years, paper cutting teacher, member of the Guild of American Papercutters and presenter of programs about Polish folk art. My work has routinely been juried into exhibits and shows, and is in private collections internationally.
