I grew up in Hanover N.H. and received a degree in occupational therapy from UNH. I practiced briefly, then left the field to become a fulltime mom. I am a self taught artist, and actually fell into this trade accidently. I was helping a friend make blank canvases for a workshop she was teaching, and after completing 40 white canvases (yikes) I couldn't help but think what fun it would be to experiment with a little color on these. And that is how it all got started.

I have been designing, painting, and testing techniques since 1996. To me, a very significant part of my art, is that it reflects my values. I strive to be environmentally friendly, and to use as many green or recycled products as possible. I just started using a water based urethane called Vermont natural coatings that is a whey based product made right here in Vermont. Talk about GREEN...we can eat their tofu for dinner....and seal canvases with their urethane !!!

I also want my work to be timeless. I strive to create pieces that will be around 20 -30 years from now, not only because they are durable, but also because the colors and patterns are never outdated

Painting floor cloths is really one of the most fun things I can imagine, and I am so lucky that my job is playing with paint and color all day long!! The tapestry of paint that has spilled and splattered and built up on my studio floor over the past 13 years provides me with enough inspiration and possibilities to last a lifetime. My designs are inspired from things around me that make life more fun. Dogs,cats,and most definitely chickens, maybe a pattern I saw in an art museum, or an old piece of fabric with a story, or the way the shadows and the sunlight stretch across the ferns in out forest...all that good stuff…
