| Dorothy has been creating felt landscapes for over 15 years beginning in North Carolina near the Penland School of Crafts. The technique is one that she developed during this time. Each feltscape takes about 3 months to complete. She begins with a thin layer of carded wool over which she lays colored swatches of wool according to the scene she wants to create. After light felting, the piece is stitched in bright colored threads almost concealing the basic felt. Completed, it is stitched to a muslin backing, laced over a supporting board and framed. Her work has been exhibited in North Carolina and recently in Vermont. She is a signature member of the Vermont Watercolor Society and paints with th Andover Watercolor Group. |
