| Jennifer Violette
first began working with glass in 1991 while a student at Alfred University
and went on to receive her BFA in 1994 in glass and metal sculpture. Over
the years she has continued to work with glass and has studied extensively
with many famous glass artists including Lino Tagliapietra, William Morris,
Dante Marioni, Richard Marquis and Pino Signoretto through numerous
workshops at Pilchuck Glass School, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts,
Rhode Island School of Design, and the Corning Museum Studio. Each provided
inspiration to Jen as her glass work evolved. She has received numerous
awards for her excellence in glass at craft shows including Crafts at the
Castle in Boston, MA and Art on the Mountain in Wilmington, VT. Jen has lots of fun in the creation process, and it really comes through in her work. She enjoys adding whimsy and character to otherwise ordinary domestic objects. She plays with geometric and organic shapes and vivid colors to create animated glass forms. Her sense of humor and quest for unique designs shows in her engaging pieces. Currently Jen and her husband John Gerding, a metal sculptor, are renovating their 100 year old post and beam barn in Wilmington, VT into what will soon become her glass-blowing studio. |
