| Beauty, function and simplicity are words used by Japan Airlines
Flight Magazine, Winds, to describe Dianne's weaving. Dianne first
learned to weave when her art teacher set up a floor loom in the back of
her fifth grade classroom. Since then, she has been
exploring the fascinating transformation of threads into complex patterns.
Inspired by Colonial and Shaker weavers, and the palette of Vermont's
landscape, Dianne's weaving ranges from decorative to wearable fabrics.
Luxurious scarves woven with silk, rayon, chenille, tencel and lambs wool
in various combinations, are the mainstay of her weaving. Every inch of
fabric is touched by hand as it is threaded, woven, washed and finished.
Attention to detail, depth of color and function, combine to create unique
and decorative textiles to be worn and treasured for years to come. Additionally, Dianne joined members of the Vermont Weaver's Guild to research the antique coverlet collection at Sherburne Museum and co-authored the historical monograph, Echoes From Our Ancestors. She has also been featured on Vermont Public Television's "RFD". Through residencies and workshops in weaving, spinning and felt making, she welcomes the opportunity to share her knowledge and experience with potential fiber artists of all ages. |
