WELCOME!

I am often asked, "Just what is so special about the Weston Craft Show?"

The first, and most obvious, answer is of course THE EXHIBITORS. Vermont is blessed with an overflowing cup of talent. The lush hills, quiet villages, and the ever-changing seasonal landscapes attract and inspire those with creative genius. Early on the Weston Craft Show decided to showcase this rich array of Vermont talent.

Our gifted artisans as well as our show volunteers take the words craft, hand-made and juried very seriously. Our exhibitors represent an impressive collection of prestigious awards, honors and special commissions, including selections for the White House Permanent Craft Collection, "Early American Life" magazine's Top 200 Traditional Crafts listing, signature pieces for Vermont Historical Society's Expo, and the Vermont Welcome Center, Niche Award for Fiber-Handwoven, many Best of Show awards, fellowships, grants, and solo gallery shows. We are honored to have them in our small show in this tiny village when each can have their pick of venues. That you have responded enthusiastically to our concept of a craft show is very important to their choice of Weston.

My second answer as to why the Weston Craft Show is special would be VITALITY. We never rest on our laurels. "In this competitive world you are either moving up or down," my father used to say, "and there is always something new to try!" This year we invite you to attend our new Craft Education Seminars. Our experts will identify areas in the ceramics and fiber arts media that can be examined to separate fine craftsmanship from the ordinary.

Our varied complement of exhibitors is another aspect of our vitality. We are excited about our 13 new artisans this year who bring fabulous glass, imaginative pottery, distinctive jewelry, lovely fiber art and classic folk art to join 36 of your favorites returning from 2004.

I would suggest one final reason for this being such a special show THE LOCATION. If you closed your eyes and pictured a Vermont village, it would probably look much like Weston with its picturesque green, country store, museums, old homes and churches. Adding the glorious fall colors and the beautiful Playhouse venue for the show makes it a delightful and special experience.

Welcome to the 2005 Weston Craft Show website. We look forward to seeing you at the show! In the meantime, please click on the Exhibitor's tab on our Home Page to meet some of Vermont's finest artisans.
